UNICO LEMON SPRITZ
Unico Zelo’s Unico Mando Limoncello deviates from heavy, cloying traditional Italian liqueurs by using a base of sustainably sourced, super-aromatic South Australian citrus (often featuring a vibrant mandarine and lemon peel blend) that punches heavily on fresh oils rather than pure sugar. Pouring the bone-dry, green-apple-driven Troppo Blanc de Blancs over it cuts right through the citrus richness, delivering a highly aromatic, citrus-forward spritz that avoids being sticky or overly sweet.
Ingredients
- 60ml (2 oz) Unico Mando Limoncello
- 90ml (3 oz) Unico Zelo Troppo Blanc de Blancs Sparkling (ice-cold)
- 45ml (1.5 oz) Premium soda water (slightly increased to balance the liqueur’s density)
- Garnish: 1 fresh lemon wheel and a large sprig of fresh mint
- Ice: Plenty of large, hard ice cubes
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Prep the glass: Pack a large, wide-bowled wine glass right to the top with fresh ice cubes.
- Pour the liqueur: Add 60ml of the aromatic Unico Limoncello directly over the ice.
- Layer the fizz: Slowly slide 90ml of the Troppo Blanc de Blancs down the inside of the glass to keep the fine, sharp bubbles intact.
- Lengthen with soda: Splash in 45ml of ice-cold soda water to brighten the citrus oils and lower the sweetness.
- Wake the mint: Clap the mint sprig sharply between your hands to wake up the aromatics, then tuck it into the glass.
- Finish and serve: Drop a fresh lemon wheel into the side of the glass, give it one single, gentle stir from the bottom, and serve immediately.
