COCCHI AMERICANO SPRITZ
This cocktail riffs on the classic bittersweet aperitivo profile by utilizing the signature gentian, cinchona bark, and citrus oil notes of Cocchi Americano Bianco. Rather than pairing it with standard Prosecco, it is topped with Unico Zelo’s “Tropo” Pink Pét-Nat from South Australia. The Pét-Nat’s cloudy, natural bubbles, spring strawberry acidity, and saline finish cut cleanly through the bitter honeyed body of the Cocchi.
Ingredients
- 60ml (2 oz) Cocchi Americano Bianco
- 90ml (3 oz) Unico Zelo Tropo Pink Pét-Nat (well-chilled)
- 30ml (1 oz) Crisp soda water or sparkling seltz
- Garnish: 1 fresh pink grapefruit peel twist (highly recommended to pop the aromatics)
- Ice: Clean, hard ice cubes
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Prep the glass: Pack a large, wide-bowled wine glass with fresh ice cubes.
- Measure the base: Pour 60ml of the aromatic Cocchi Americano directly over the ice.
- Layer the fizz: Carefully cap the drink with 90ml of the Tropo Pink Pét-Nat, pouring it slowly down the side of the glass to safeguard its delicate, ancestral method sediment and texture.
- Lengthen with soda: Splash in 30ml of cold soda water to unlock the hidden elderflower and citrus aromas in the glass.
- Garnish: Give the drink a single, elegant sweep with a long bar spoon. Pinch the grapefruit peel over the surface of the drink to drop its essential oils across the glass rim, and place it inside.
