Annie Millton is a pioneering figure in New Zealand’s wine industry, co-founding Millton Vineyards with her husband James in 1984.
Millton Vineyards, located near the Te Arai River, became New Zealand’s first organic and biodynamic wine estate, achieving organic certification in 1989 and Demeter certification in 1990. The vineyard is renowned for its commitment to sustainable practices, using no herbicides, insecticides, or systemic fungicides, and dry-farming all its vineyards.
Annie is a strong advocate for biodynamic farming and low-intervention winemaking, leading the industry in these practices.
She has been recognized as a Fellow of New Zealand Winegrowers and received the Sir George Fistonich medal in 2020.
Her dedication to quality and sustainability has made Millton Vineyards a globally respected brand.
