Grace Shugoro No Vin N.V. (720ml) – Fortified
Yamanashi, Japan
Calming garnet with an orange rim. Intense and complex ripe bouquet of figs, raisins, dry flowers, bitter chocolate. Richly sweet and mellow on the pallet, pure, with a long finish.
A personal favourite sweet wine of the late writer Shūgorō Yamamoto. The wine is matured in oak barrels for a few years, resulting in a complex flavour. A perfect match for dessert and blue cheese. The calligraphy on the label was Yamamoto’s own handwriting, in the spirit of praising the wine.

GRACE WINE – Yamanashi
Established in 1923 in Katsunuma, this family-owned winery established by Chotaro Misawa is now run by his fourth-generation successor Shigekazu Misawa, whose daughter Ayana is in charge of winemaking. The main-winery is still in Katsunuma and produces primarily Koshu. Since 1990 the family has been concentrating its efforts on improvements in grape production. The winery’s goal is a wine reflecting a unique combination of soil, sunlight, and altitude. It has been a pioneer in replacing conventional Japanese viniculture with vertical shoot positioning to produce a more richly flavoured grape. The goal is wines that are eco-friendly, with a natural, gallant and quietly elegant taste.
