Grace Koshu Hishiyama Vineyard 2017
Crystal clear, bright pale lemon with a grey tinge. Medium intense citrus aromas reminiscent of lemon and grapefruit, nuances of mineral redolent of scratched stones. Powerful attack on the palate, with strong and assertive acidity, modest but elegant bitterness extending to the mid-palate, finished off with mouth-filling mineral-like umami.
GRACE WINE – Yamanashi
Established in 1923 in Katsunuma, this family-owned winery established by Chotaro Misawa is now run by his fourth-generation successor Shigekazu Misawa, whose daughter Ayana is in charge of winemaking. The main-winery is still in Katsunuma and produces primarily Koshu. Since 1990 the family has been concentrating its efforts on improvements in grape production. The winery’s goal is a wine reflecting a unique combination of soil, sunlight, and altitude. It has been a pioneer in replacing conventional Japanese viniculture with vertical shoot positioning to produce a more richly flavoured grape. The goal is wines that are eco-friendly, with a natural, gallant and quietly elegant taste.
