Grace Cuvee Misawa Akeno Koshu 2019
Limpid, bright, light yellow with a beige tinge. Fruit aromas of apple, pear and kiwi, herbal aromas of fennel, thyme, floral aroma of jasmine, minerality reminiscent of sea shells, all giving an impression of complexity. Smooth attack with precision. Ripe fruit flavours and minerality expand generously on the palate, together with smokiness and an enjoyable long finish.
GRACE WINE – Yamanashi
Established in 1923 in Katsunuma, this family-owned winery established by Chotaro Misawa is now run by his fourth-generation successor Shigekazu Misawa, whose daughter Ayana is in charge of winemaking. The main-winery is still in Katsunuma and produces primarily Koshu. Since 1990 the family has been concentrating its efforts on improvements in grape production. The winery’s goal is a wine reflecting a unique combination of soil, sunlight, and altitude. It has been a pioneer in replacing conventional Japanese viniculture with vertical shoot positioning to produce a more richly flavoured grape. The goal is wines that are eco-friendly, with a natural, gallant and quietly elegant taste.
