Grace Cuvée Misawa Rouge 2013
Yamanashi, Japan

Impression of closeness on the nose, ripe blueberry-packed, raspberry and cassis liqueur, as well as bitter chocolate and liquorice from oak. On swirling emerged fresh red currant raspberry, menthol-like herb and Japanese mustard-like spice. The attack showed a firm, powerful and acid-weaved skeleton integrated with fruit characters reminiscent of red and black berries; full-bodied and with concentration. On the mid-palate was young beautiful tannins originated from meticulous winemaking, retained until finish. Young delineated tannin is strongly felt at the front and back of the palate. On the overall a bottle with power.

Winery Profile

GRACE WINE – Yamanashi

Established in 1923 in Katsunuma, this family-owned winery established by Chotaro Misawa is now run by his fourth-generation successor Shigekazu Misawa, whose daughter Ayana is in charge of winemaking. The main-winery is still in Katsunuma and produces primarily Koshu. Since 1990 the family has been concentrating its efforts on improvements in grape production. The winery’s goal is a wine reflecting a unique combination of soil, sunlight, and altitude. It has been a pioneer in replacing conventional Japanese viniculture with vertical shoot positioning to produce a more richly flavoured grape. The goal is wines that are eco-friendly, with a natural, gallant and quietly elegant taste.
