Escarpment Pinot Blanc 2012
Martinborough, New Zealand

Pale straw colour with slight green hues. The nose is finely proportioned with soft white stonefruit aromas. Dry to taste with white stonefruits and a little hint of tropical fruit show. On the palate acidity is crisp, providing the drive, it is certainly not searing. The wine finishes dry and delicately textured. This is a crisp, clear, fruit-driven classical Pinot Blanc.

Winery Profile

Complexity, texture and structure are the three main words in Escarpement’s vocabulary as their experienced team strive to produce the very best New World wines from high-quality grapes grown on alluvial gravel, terraced land along the bank of the Huangarua River. Escarpment’s vineyard director and winemaker Larry McKenna has firmly established himself as a leading winemaker and is particularly respected as one of New Zealand’s pre-eminent Pinot Noir winemakers. Referred to by various wine writers and authorities as the ‘Godfather of Pinot Noir’ Larry has built a solid reputation for understanding and gaining the best out of this typically stubborn and capricious grape.
