Geoff Merrill McLaren Vale Reserve Chardonnay 2006

McLaren Vale, Australia

The colour is a beautiful yellow gold with green hues. The clarity is brilliant and has excellent depth of colour. On the nose the wine is extremely complex. With hints of apple, nectarine, rockmelon and lemon evident, and complement the toast and cashew oak derived characters. There are also hints of grass, nutmeg and cinnamon spice coming through as the wine opens up in the glass. The palate has a beautiful and quite voluptuous mouth feel and well-structured and defined. There are flavours of stone fruit, citrus and melon and a nice minerality, extremely well balanced with a long focussed finish.
